Traditional asphalt for paving is black. What few people know is that asphalt pavements can be coloured into a wide range of colour shades. Coloured asphalt is an excellent choice for surfaces which need that extra bit of attention and will help you to achieve your goals for safety, pavement aesthetics and durability. Coloured asphalt is a durable solution with similar mechanical resistance as normal asphalt, improves safety due to attention and separation of traffic functions and offers a wide variety of landscaping possibilities. Application areas are bus lanes, speed bumps, bicycle lanes, parking areas, squares, playgrounds and footpaths.

Coloured asphalt consists of clear (transparent) binder, colour pigments and aggregates. Coloured aggregates are recommended to achieve a durable colour. By carefully selecting the right configuration of binder, pigments and aggregates, every desired colour is possible!

Clear asphalt binder is a synthetic blend of constituents suitable for hot mix asphalt. Due to the lack of black pigment, the colourization is much more intense even with a reduced amount of pigment. The clear binders are suitable for dense asphalt wearing courses, stone mastic asphalt wearing courses, sand asphalt protective layers or for use as raw material in clear binder emulsions.
